The second book in a series on Advanced Flight Techniques for the professional pilot by Les Kumpula, Professor Emeritus, Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Flight technique analysis is the application of aerodynamic principles to flight technique requirements. Unlike aircraft performance and design, where aerodynamic equations provide numerical data, flight technique analysis uses aerodynamic principles to optimize the methods used to precisely fly an airplane. With detailed knowledge of how aerodynamic laws dictate correct flight procedures, pilots are able to substitute knowledge for experience in precision aircraft control. Flight Technique Analysis for Professional Pilots was originally written in 1991 by Professor Les Kumpula at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, during the development of the first course in flight technique analysis. New content and updates were added to the book in 2010. Techniques for all aircraft types are developed, with special emphasis on jet transport procedures. Extensive application of computer-based flight simulation is utilized throughout the book. Technical results are shown in graphical illustrations, while supporting text comments highlight concise results. |
