Perfect replacement for my existing base assy. Works great!

While Im not impressed with the beacon durability, it is nice that Whelen does offer parts for it. After years of service my Whelen flasher died. It appeared to have cooked itself during a brown out due to a failing battery. Lesson learned, the beacon stays off till the motor is started and the alternator is online. I replaced the flasher base, and the lamp assembly. The old lamp assembly bulb was not burnt out, but the reflective material on the plastic base had been cooked off.

It worked pretty well. AT this time the bulb is still OK but unit cooked. This unit is about 5 years old and all original. One pin on the bulb is blackened and the plastic above it bubbled from heat. One tube that the pins mount to is also darkened and burned. The heat caused the potting material in the base to break down and no longer supports the tube. I also noticed a few stress cracks near the top of the tube. However, the clamp is in great shape.

Mr brownouts line of thought violates physics. Best to ignore his response. Avionics a&p/i.a
