Q: Is this suitable for a Rotax 582 as well?

No, this will not work with the Rotax 582 engine.

Q: Does the UMA 2-1/4 TACHOMETER ROTAX part number Part # 10-01852 work with the HKS 700T engine?

The UMA 2-1/4 Tachometer Rotax (10-01852) was designed specifically for Rotax 912/914 engines and is not recommended as the range markings are specifically made for those engines. A good alternative would be the UMA 2-1/4 Tachometer Rotax (10-01854) which support electric and CDI ignitions that support a 6 pulse per evolution signals.

Q: Will this tachometer suit a v6 engine with a cdi system?

The UMA 2-1/4 Tachometer Rotax (10-01852) was designed specifically for Rotax 912/914 engines. Any other use is tested and not recommended.

Q: What method of connection to the engine is used with the UNA 2-1/4 Tachometer?

The UMA 2-1/4 Tachometer is an electric tachometer that is connected by 4 wires. Red - Aircraft Power (+), Black - Ground (-), White - Signal input and yellow - Hour Meter Drive (where used).

Q: Regarding the UMA 2-1/4 Tachometer for Rotax: You say the white wire connects to the signal input. What is/are the possible source(s) of a signal in the 912?

The signal for the tachometer comes from the ignition side of the engine and is the only plug with two wires not connected to anything when you receive the engine. We have added the install sheet to the 'Documents' tab.

Q: Can I use it on a certified aircraft?

No, this is not intended for certified aircraft installation.
