This is a very nice antenna that comes with everything you need to install it. It is durable for experimental and other types, and the price is friendly. I have used two of them with two experimental projects, pairing both with two Garmin 200 com radios with superb result. Installation is quick but tricky because you have to work on the inside and outside of the aircraft. Make sure you have an assistant to help. This makes installation a breeze (15 to 30 minutes). Also make sure you fortify the section you install the antenna. Finally, get the one with 96 rg cable because it helps with flexibility regarding length.

I am an A&P and this is the antenna of my choice. It would work fine on a RV or an ultralight

Very nice antenna, small easy to mount and comes with all hardware for installation. SWR when checked after installation was great. Installed it on a J-3 belly just aft of landing gear bungees.

The antenna seems to work better than the rubber antenna that came with my handheld com radio. The mounting stud threads could be about 1/4 longer as I had to leave off a washer and the data plate in order to have enough threads to install the antenna hardware. Even when holding the swagged hex nut at the antenna base with a wrench the antenna would still spin when torquing the mounting nut so had to hold the antenna at the bend with blocks of wood to keep it from spinning in order to torque the mounting nuts.

The antenna arrived here in the UK within a reasonable time and well packed for transit. it was exactly what I ordered. I would have given the order 5 stars, but I discovered there was a dry soldered joint where the antenna is wired to the coaxial cable fitment. Fortunately I discovered it whilst unpacking the system and easily fixed it with my soldering iron. However, it was fortunate I discovered it when I did, otherwise it could have easily come apart in flight causing complete radio failure. It indicated a lack of care by the manufacturer.

Threaded end is at least 1/8 too short. With a .025 aluminum skin there is just enough thread to to get the last nut on. If you need to add a doubler to add strengthen you will have to to leave off the data tag.

Q: I'm thinking of ordering the AV-534L. Do I need the install kit too? What is included in it?

The install kit is recommended for matching hardware. We have added a parts list for the install kit as in the overview tab as a PDF download.

Q: Description of the antenna says that mounting hardware is included, but the page is also offering a separate install kit with hardware. I find it confusing. Question is: are the elements of the install kit included with the antenna or must they be bought separately?

P/N# AV-534 does come with the hardware for installation. If for some reason you misplaced the hardware or need replacement parts for installation, you will then need to purchase the install kit.

Q: Whats the difference between the AV-534 and the AV-534L?

THE L IS THE SAME but furnished with 96" lead of RG58 A/U cable with male BNC and ground strap with lugs.

Q: Does the Rami AV-534 comes with a mounting base that secures to the airframe?

A mounting base is not included and not required for this antenna.

Q: Would the AV-534 be appropriate for a belly installation (specifically on a low to the ground Mooney M20E)?

No, it is not recommended for belly installation. The angle is recommended for top mount.

Q: Is this RAMI AV 534 antenna also suitable for 833 Radios?

Yes, this antenna will work with 8.33 spaced radios.

Q: Can I order a replacement cable or do I have to make my own?

We build custom coaxial cables for antennas and avionics. Please see our custom coax page for more information.

Q: Can this AV-534 antenna be trimmed and tune to 146mhz?

No, P/N AV-534 can not be trimmed, the antenna frequency :118 to 137Mhz .

Q: Hi! Thank you for your quick response. Another question, is THE Rami AV-534 antenna complete with fasteners, or do I need to order the RAMI AV-534 INSTALLATION KIT?

AV-534 includes the antenna with insulator and the mounting hardware

Q: Does the RAMI AV-534 / AV-534L have an STC?

This antenna does not have an STC. It does have a TSO certification which allows install on certified aircraft. Please consult with your A&P to determine if this can be legally installed on your aircraft.
