Part# 11-10831
MFR Model# 2835A

Overview

Safe, Affordable, Airframe Power for Piston and Light Turbine Aircraft

The Enhanced Flight 2835A GPU achieves a remarkable 89% electrical efficiency to provide up to 1,000W of power. Its cool running, switching-mode power modules provide massive amounts of stable, noise-free power from a 90-230 volts AC input. It will safely power the most delicate airframe systems with laboratorygrade DC without risk of costly damage to sophisticated avionics, instruments, or electronic equipment. This new generation GPU is designed as a practical alternative to large, expensive start carts, and battery chargers, and other devices designed primarily to spin starter motors. Unique, ergonomic design features dual, removable cord/tool caddies.

  • IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER & OPERATING LIMITATIONS: Audio Authority® authorizes this device for use ONLY by aviation professionals, such as licensed pilots and maintenance technicians, knowledgeable about their aircraft electrical system and batteries. Aircraft electrical systems vary widely. Many aircraft electrical systems have been altered in the field from the original OEM configuration and these changes are often poorly documented in the aircraft records. The operational concepts, recommendations, and instructions presented here are necessarily general and make assumptions that do not apply to every aircraft, and may not be correct for your particular aircraft. Incorrect use of this device has the potential to damage the GPU and/or aircraft components. It is the operator’s responsibility to read completely and fully understand the manual, plus those sections of the Aircraft Flight Manual and Maintenance Manual that pertain to their aircraft’s electrical system design, to determine the appropriate use of this, or any, external power source. If you cannot do this, do not use this product. Instead, consult the airframe manufacturer or a technician familiar with your specific aircraft type and configuration before connecting a GPU to your aircraft.

Mfg Q&A

  • Does this unit have both 12v and 24v output? No, this is 28-volt DC output only (for aircraft with 24V battery).
  • Can I use it like a starter device for my C172? No, this unit is intended for airframe and avionics power only, not for engine starts. The 70A version may be used for start assist, piston engines only.
  • Q1. What is the length of AC cable? 2 meters
  • Q2. The cable is free or option item? AC input and DC output cables are included.
  • Q3. Could you give us the 28VDC output connector specification? The output cable plug is 3-pin AN2551 (Aircraft Spruce P/N 11-03158)

Your are specifically not authorized to use any comment or endorsement for our order. We are compensated for product endorsements. In the interest of providing internal feedback to you, your delivery time exceeded our expectations, product was packed very well. We are likely to continue to do business with you. next--I would like to find a very cost effective lightweight portable jump start for a 24 volt three prong Cessna 414. Lots of very expensive ones in your catelog. Im sure good quality. Just expensive

Took a while to get since it was backordered but really works well on my Citation. I am on a little airport with no power carts and this saves my battery for engine starts big time

Q: Does this unit have both 12v and 24v output?

No, this is only 28v output.

Q: Does the GPU with BatteryMINDer work outside North America?

The GPU itself may be used with almost any voltage, but the internal BatteryMINDer is only compatible with a 100-127V AC power source. In countries with other voltage standards, a compatible BatteryMINDer must be purchased and used separately.

Q: Can I use it like a starter device for my C172?

No, this unit is intended for powering up avionics units without the engine running.

Q: 1. What is the length of AC cable? 2. The cable is free or option item? 3.Could you give us the 28VDC output connector specification?

The AC cable would be 6-1/2 ft. long. This cable would come with the purchase. The 28VDC specs are 28 +/- 0.5 Volts DC, 35 Amps continuous.

Q: I was just wondering what is the input AMPs if we have a 240v supply. Thank you.

This unit has Universal input: 100-240 VAC 50-60Hz 9.5A.

Q: Will this fit the Beechcraft bonanza aux plug?

The 2870A GPU is compatible with all piston and turbine aircraft with 28 VDC electrical systems (24 volt batteries) that initially draw less than 70 amperes without optional equipment turned ON. This includes most piston aircraft and a large number of turboprops and small jets.

Q: My mechanic or aircraft manufacturer claims installing the BM-AIK2A is a major alteration and would require an STC. Is that true?

Per the manufacturer: No, the FAA is the sole governing authority on modifications of certified aircraft. The BM-AIK kits have been reviewed by FAA and industry personnel, who agree that its installation does not rise to the level of a major alteration to the aircraft. Only a major alteration, as defined by federal aviation regulations, requires an STC, or FSDO field approval, and filing an FAA form 337 to document the change. It is not the decision of the airframe manufacturer, or type certificate holder. Because it is NOT a major alteration, it is a MINOR alteration, which is within the authority of the installing mechanic to sign off with a simple maintenance log entry.

Q: For a Cessna 182T, would we need 35amp or 70amp?

This would depend on the load of operations being performed. The more systems being used such as avionics or cabin environmental controls, the more draw. Each unit has built in active load monitoring to prevent overload.
