Overview

The Aithre Shield EX 2.0 is the first behind the panel mounted analog output carbon monoxide detector for experimental aircraft that is usable without any avionics via an iOS application and is also compatible with Dynon SkyView, Garmin G3X and Advanced Flight Systems. With the iOS app you get auto pairing, trend data, and Siri notices to your iOS paired headset and you can put CO monitoring directly on your avionics screen as an engine gauge! Besides being extremely small, light, and easy to install, the EX 2.0 is sensitive and responsive at the lowest levels of CO gas between 0 and 255 ppm to detect and manage CO before it becomes an emergency. With no recalibration requirement for 10 years, you’ll enjoy many years of safe flying with the Aithre Shield EX 2.0.

Features

Use Without Any Avionics Intergration:
Standalone iOS app can access the EX 2.0 anytime without using any avionics integration, just hook up the Shield EX 2.0 to 5V power!

Use With Avionics:
Simple installation using just three wires - power, ground, and analog output.

iOS:
Integrated with the Aithre Connect iOS app to provide discrete CO levels and 15 minute trend data plus popup and Siri voice notifications to your headset (when paired) when preset and adjustable threshold levels are crossed.
(Click Here for the Apple App Store for Aithre Connect)

Sensitive:
Under 30 second sensor response between 0 - 255 ppm with 1 ppm resolution

Compact:
Measures just 1.97” x 1.97” x 0.67” tall and weighs 1.1 ounces (mounting flange adds 0.75" to the base width)

Intuitive Graphical Indication:
This device is compatible with iOS, Garmin G3X, Dynon Skyview and Advanced Flight Systems and outputs as an circular dial and trend graph (iOS), a moving bar (G3X), a graphical dial (Dynon), or readout with popup notification (Advanced)

Temperature Independent:
Internal temperature adjustment circuit that compensates for temperature induced errors in the sensor between -10 C to +50 C

No Recalibration:
State-of-the-art sensor requires no recalibration for 10 years under normal operating conditions

Pressure & Altitude Independent:
The detector is not affected by pressure and altitude changes

Hand Calibrated:
Every Aithre detector is individually calibrated using high precision calibration CO gas and comes with a signed certificate of calibration

Q: What Range does the analog output have. 0 - 5 Volt?

0-3.3. Linear to the parameter

Q: I was going to pre wire a small harness from the airplane to connect to the AITHRE Shield EX2. I could not find the wire gauge size. What is the wire gauge size of the 3 wires needed for installation?

22 gauge per the manufacturer.

Q: Is this compatible with Grand Rapids Technology EIS4000? It has aux inputs (5v)

Yes, the Shield EX 2.0 and EX 3.0 would work with the GRT EIS4000 via the auxiliary inputs.

The Shield EX 2.0 and Shield EX 3.0 output a voltage that is linear to the carbon monoxide parts per million (PPM). The EX 3.0 also provides a voltage that is linear to the pulse oximeter SPO2 and the oxygen bottle pressure PSI. The range of the voltage outputs of the Shield EX 2.0 and the Shield EX 3.0 are 0-3.3V, which is compatible with the 0-5V limits of the GRT EIS4000, based on a review of the GRT installation manual online.
