This universal cutter is easy to use and is a great addition to any toolbox. It’s made from high quality aircraft aluminum making it light weight and very durable. |
Excellent tool clean cut.
Tempest Oil Filter Can Cutter
The best filter cutter I’ve ever used. My previous one you had to squeeze the tool like pliers well rotating it around the filter. This one uses the hole in the filter as a centerpoint and the cutting blade cuts using a knob you screw in to apply pressure to the filter. Super easy to use
Tempest Oil Filter Can Cutter
Awesome product. Super easy to use, quality product.
Tempest Oil Filter Can Cutter
I bought this to replace my Champion oil filter cutter that has a chipped cutting wheel. Ive never liked the Champion tool so instead of buying a new cutting wheel, I thought Id try out the Tempest tool. The Champion tool is just difficult to use. It doesnt operate smoothly, and the oil filter base that gets cut off always sticks in the tools threaded stud requiring a bit of effort to remove. Ive only used this Tempest oil filter cutter once, but wow, was it effective! I love it!
I give the tool 5 stars for quality and feel the product will last. But, the clip that holds the cutter wheel came off the first usage.
Worked just as expected. Easily cut open the can and freed the filter. Should be good for years to come. I used a serrated kitchen knife to then cut the filter out C172/C182 pilot
Very well built.
Seems well made and was easy to use. (If you don’t have a vise, you’ll need one.) The price is a bit high in my opinion.

This unit has a dowel for centering. It works but I prefer the Champion tool that screws into the filter.

Yes, you have to remove the adapter pin for male filters.
This fits all aviation style oil filters such as the AA48108-2 and AA48109. The diameter of the dowel pin is 0.63.
Yes, it will.
