Direct Fuel Level Indicator, quality made of acrylic PVC tube with a blank external aluminum scale. Uncalibrated for custom calibration to home built tanks, allow an accurate check of on board fuel level indicators and eliminate the guess work. |
Tested the level indicator in my PA-28 180 and found it to be “right on”. Extremely accurate.
Its nothing but a clear tube zip tied to an aluminum strip. The tube slides up and with respect to the aluminum strip.
Not quite what I was expecting. I suppose I should have looked more closely at the photo, but for $18 I was expecting more than a glass tube with a bare sharp-edged strip of aluminum zip-tied to it. At least they could have smoothed the eges? But more importantly, the zip ties only sort of keep the two aligned when I first used it to calibrate my tanks I didnt notice at first that tube was slipping up or down on the backing plate so the calibration was off -- frustrating. Also it might help if there was some guidance for what to use to mark the thing, or better yet include a fuel-resistant pen.
As others have mentioned its a tube with zip tied metal backing.
