Ideal for preliminary VFR flight planning and makes a great wall poster! Depicts VORs, airports, class B airspace, special use airspace, urban areas, major highways, terrain contours, topographical features including bodies of water and more. Covering the 48 contiguous states, the VFR Wall Planning Chart uses a scale of 1:3,100,000. Includes all airports with runways greater than 4000'. Measures 59" x 36" inches open and comes rolled in a tube. Updated annually. |
When flying our newly purchased 1977 Cardinal 177RG from Statesville, North Carolina, to Bremerton, Washington, we encountered this wall map at one of our early stops. It was a great aid in determine our future route, and especially where to cross the Rocky Mountains.
Great chart for planning flights and tracking places flown. Have two of them, one in the hangar and one at home.
Thick paper, close to Sectional Chart thickness. Compared to the older Jet Navigation Chart (JNCA), much better mountain terrain detail, but not as much on lakes or rivers. Shows MOAs, Restricted / Alert Areas, & Class B airspace. No Long/Lat Lines. Only larger highways depicted. Airports are all circles, no runway direction markings. Doesnt cover as much of lower Canada as JNCA. Just about as large as the JNCA. Still happy with it because more terrain detail and I still have my JNCA as cross reference.
VFR Wall Planning Chart
Great service as I have always had from Aircraft Spruce. Gave it 4 stars because I thought shipping was a bit high.
Nice big chart good for an overview. the colors are lighter than a sectional and lighter than the image shown in the online catalog.
Its a topographic shaded chart with airports, period. no airspace (B,C,D,Restricted, or MOAs, etc). I was hoping for something more, more like a sectional.

The scale is 1:3,100,000 and the dimensions are 59" x 36" flat.
Yes, we have updated the photograph on our website to show the map better.
No, those airports are not on the map.
