This product performed very well. Other Jack pads I have used on spring gear, have small, slippery pads for points of contact to place the end of a standard bottle Jack. This kit offers a concave top to apply to your Jack, that mates perfectly to a smooth, spherical knob on the pad, eliminating any slip. I recommend using a 8 ton bottle Jack. The larger base offers more stability, side to side, than a 4 ton. The adjustments for tapered spring gear legs makes it useable on any aircraft with this type of gear. A well engineered product to make elevated maintenance of an airplane, easy and safe.

I made my own similar to this. I just wanted to recommend the use of a piece of leather between the jack and the gear leg. It slips less and protects the gear leg paint

The ends are not high enough, does not encompass the strut on a 172 with the wrap on it.

Product along with any bottle jack will not accomplish job. May seem inconsequential, but the product description should state 1. Additional C-Clamp for safety restraint required. 2. Bottle Jack head must be approximately but not to exceed 1 3/16 for swivel head to be secured. 3. Use caution while jacking for weight shift movement of remaining gear points. My bottle jack would not safely accommodate the swivel head due to size so I had to track down another jack. 5/8 Wrench & 11/16 Wrench or socket required for tool fitment. Additional Allen Wrench required for Swivel Head attachment. Instruction also suggests lining tool to prevent marring of Landing Gear. In all, caused delay getting all the proper pieces assembled.

It works ok on later 172s with the flatter gear, with a C clamp, but that is hard on the paint. But on early 172s all 180/185 and 188 gear legs, the slant of the gear is so steep that it slips right off, I tried using a C clamp, but even that did not work. I dont recommend it.
