Overview

The Faro® G2 Active Noise Reduction (ANR) is designed for pilots who want the quietest cockpit. Using the newest sound technology, the G2 Active noticeably reduces cockpit noise up to 52db. So you can fly longer, more comfortably, and in a quieter environment.

Large Soft Cushion
Extra Comfort for long cross-country flights. Made of soft, durable fiber, the cushion makes the headset feel extra light.

Always Loud. Always Clear.
A fully adjustable microphone beam with wind screen allows ATC and your companions to hear you loud and clear. The microphone has been perfected to deliver high quality, crystal clear communication.

Soft Leather Ear Protection
The soft faux-leather ear protection provides you with an amazing 23db in passive and an incredible 52db of noise reduction with active noise reduction turned on. Engineered to comfortably protect your ears on the longest cross country flights. Featuring dual volume controls, and an MP3 / iPhone Audio Input

Active Noise Reduction Technology (ANR)
The Faro Active reduces the unwanted ambient noise in the cockpit by using both Passive Noise Reduction (PNR) and Active Noise Reduction (ANR)

Passive Noise Reduction is achieved by placing sound absorbing material between your ears and the outside environment.

Active Noise Reduction is achieved by placing a microphone inside the ear cup to “read” incoming noise and generating an “anti‐noise” signal through the speakers. The anti‐noise and the ambient noise will cancel each other before they reach the ear.

Through this technology, low frequency ambient noise is significantly reduced and important communication can be heard in a clear, crisp manner.

G2 will continue to operate as a standard aviation headset should the ANR become inactive for any reason such as low or no battery power.

Faro G2 ANR Headset Black

So far I have just over 10 hours with this headset and I am very happy with the purchase. I have used a couple of high end ($800+) headsets in the past, and as far as noise reduction goes, the FARO G2 ANR is definitely on par with the more expensive headsets. Another thing that I really like about this headset is the comfort. When I first bought this headset, I thought it would be a temporary that would eventually serve as a backup, but considering how well it has been working Ill likely just keep this as my primary set.

Good value for the price. Bought almost two years ago, ANR works well, passive good when batteries died once in flight -turn switch off, put 3 aas in , continue flyng, or switch off and complete flight passive. Good battery life-I only buy the good lithiums, more than 40 hours. Adjust band easy for ball cap. Good warranty, 3 years. I checked customer service b4 buying-good service, they answer phone and questions.

Ive had a few different ANR headsets since they came out (David Clark & Bose for two) and think these are the best value for the money bar none. Ive only used them for 6 hrs or so, but theyre comfortable & quiet. id recommend them to anybody.

Extremely nice ANR headset, given the price. I unfortunately can't compare to Lightspeed, Bose or any other $1000 headset, but I own two of these for less than the cost of one expensive unit. The acoustic change when you flip the switch is huge. Loud 150 cockpit vs quiet 150 cockpit. Downsides: Simple, basic, antiquated headset/mic design. I assume they put all the $$$ into the ANR tech and, to keep the price low, used basic tech elsewhere in the headset.

Being a new comer to the aviation world I was overwhelmed by the variety of headsets available. I couldnt afford the pricey headsets but enjoyed the ones I was lent and was hooked on ANR headsets and after much research decided to give these a try and after several flights with them have found these to be very effective set of ANR cancelling the noise quite nicely in the 172 allowing me to hear the radio and communications with no static at all. No high pitched noise nor irritating white noise present when climbing or descending unlike some other models of headsets. Things I like about the headset fits comfortably over my ears and doesnt feel clunky and doesnt move with sudden head movements. Adjustable volume for each ear is nice and mike boom easy to move and flexible. Also because I live in northern Canada needed something pliable in cold weather without breaking and so far this meets expectation and moves well in cold weather. Things I dont like are uncomfortable while wearing a ball cap, the ANR box is square and IMO could be moved up the line a bit to better access the switch and maybe made into a rectangle instead of a square. Overall for casual or those who semi regularly I highly recommend this headset as it wont kill the budget and is effective at noise cancelling and well built.

ANR used to work then stopped. Had lengthy discussion with Faro to solve problem. Turns out that any and all ANR headsets should not be used with handheld radios and/or in ultralight or experimental planes. Had I known this before I would have got the PNR set at half the price. Upon further comparison my 10 + year Avcomm 900 PNR sounds far better than the Faro set. Now I have an overpriced secondary ANR headset which can only be used as a PNR headset To be fair I cannot comment about other ANR headsets with handheld radios and in ultralight or experimentals. I am merely reporting my experience and what I was told from Faro.
