Per the vendor this can be used on polished aluminum but it may not bond as well as it would on paint. In my experience you do not want to permanent or semi-permanent coating on bare alum as corrosion/oxidation comes from the inside out and would show beneath the coating.
Yes it would be safe to use on automotive paint.
