Installed on our piper archer III right wingtip landing light. I did a side-by-side comparison of the old left wing tip, landing light and the new right wing tip landing light, the Whelen Prometheus plus PAR 36 28v is significantly brighter and casts a much greater light halo. I am extremely pleased with the purchase. We also purchased a replacement for the left wing tip landing light and had a problem with that particular bulb. I called Welen support and dealt with a guy named Jeff and he immediately agreed to ship out a new bulb. Might be the best customer service experience I have ever had. I am so grateful for Whelen, their product support and their products!
Installed myself, I think I messed something up because it became very “dim” after 2 weeks (?) I called, did some troubleshooting but nothing seemed to make the light bright again. Wheeler sent me a brand new light, then I messed the gasket up and they sent me another one of those. Light is great now, and all the hassle, Whelen is VERY easy to deal with. They paid all postage…I’m Delighted.

A dramatic improvement over incandescent bulbs, and a simple, one screw installation. There are two points to watch for: 1) The terminals are not marked + or -, so when you connect your light, there is a 50-50 chance you got it backwards. Check to make sure it works before you reinstall it. If it doesnt, just switch the connections. 2) Note that the identical lens comes in both 14V and 24V. If you get the wrong one, it wont work...dont ask me how I know! The exchange policy works well, and is easy to accomplish.
Great light easy Install
I ordered this for a customer/friend w a Cirrus. When he got in to change out his “dead” incandescent bulb he discovered a loose wire was the culprit. He asked about returning the bulb. I suggested he install it and if he didn’t like it I’d buy it back. He’s SOLD! Won’t even CONSIDER going back. Awsome, one time installation that makes a HUGE difference in your night flying AND... you can leave it on (low amp, 15,000+ life and visible in the day) for safety.
