Overview

The RANS aircraft heater is the answer to the winter flying "chills". It is very lightweight, inexpensive and installs easily in just two hours. This heater utilizes ram air and the heat off the engine muffler.Operation is simple. Slipstream air is forced through the heater inlet, passing over the muffler, picking up the heat and delivering it to the cabin or pod via an Aeroduct hose. Contains no moving parts. Fits Rotax mufflers and adaptable to other engines.

Only fits Rotax 503 and 582. Will not fit 618.

Q: What is this made of? What are the dimensions? Thanks

The material is aluminum wrap. Dimensions: 13 inch wide and total length 20-1/2 inch.

Q: Does this cabin heater work on the Rotax 912 (for my Rans S-7 Courier)? If not, do you have one that does?

Per the supplier: "No, this one will not work on an S-7 with a Rotax 912." However, they do offer one that will work for this application. It is non-stocking and special order. Please call sales at 877-477-7823 with your serial number of the aircraft and our sales staff will get the pricing and lead time.

Q: How does the air get into the aluminum wrap to get forced to the cabin? Do you suggest you have a carbon monoxide alert detector in the cabin? Do you recommend that you take it off for summer time flying or just disconnect the hose?

The Heater Kit has 2 inlets which rivet to the outside of the wrap. One hole is pre-located in the wrap. The second hole must be cut into the wrap. Each inlet is designed for the 1-1/2" CEET Hose to attach with Hose Clamps. Air is forced into the wrap by a hose facing into the wind. Heated air from the wrap is then blown into the cabin through another hose. Anytime a muffler wrap style heater is used a Carbon Monoxide alert is recommended. A plastic cap is included which can be used to close off the heated air hose for summer time use.

Q: May I ask what are the parts in the bag in the picture for the 582 Rans muffler heater?

Kit includes Heater Wrap, 2 inlets, 1-1/2" CEET Hose, 1-1/2" Cap and rivets for installation.
