LOCK OPEN OIL DRAIN VALVES Changing hot engine oil has never been easier! With the SAF-AIR oil drain valve, no wrench is needed to remove the drain plug. A simple push and turn of the SAF-AIR valve locks it in the open position. The valve is made completely from anodized aluminum and stainless steel components. These materials are used throughout the aircraft industry due to their strength and durability. FAA & PMA APPROVED. Product Notes:

Saf-Air Oil Drain Valve S6250, 5/8-18
Works perfectly - much cleaner and more reliable than the old drain.

This is the only quick-drain plug I’ve seen since 1977. It’s replacing a post-war variant that finally failed after 78 years. I imagine it will last at least that long. Well built, easy to install, easy to use.

5/8 -18 p/n 06-00637 is the correct drain for Cessna 150 equipped 0-200A engine. I prefer this drain over others as the drain hose slips right on to the fitting, no need to keep a release decent in the glove box or tool box, all self contained, nice product, came with copper gasket.
Saf-Air Oil Drain Valve S6250, 5/8-18
Super easy to install. Crush washer included along with a small packet of anti seize. Design has two rubber gaskets. They seem easy enough to replace when they wear out. Design has holes for safety wires. .032 is too thick so get the .025.
Saf-Air Oil Drain Valve S6250, 5/8-18
Nice built unit. Cessna 182P required spacer between throttle attachment to carburetor throttle arm to keep throttle cable from hitting lower part of oil drain tube at full throttle.

What can I say. Nicely machined oil sump quick drain.
Saf-Air Oil Drain Valve S6250, 5/8-18
As has been pointed out by others, the crush gasket is loose on the threaded shaft, due to the threads no contiuing to the gasket contact surface, thus the gasket has no means of being centered when installed, increasing the likelihood of leakage. Otherwise, quality seems fine.

It uses a 3/8" hose.
Per the manufacturer, we do not have a torque value. We recommend seating the crush washer and then a 1/4 turn. Do not over tighten.
