GAS500M with -8 Male Flare Fittings | 05-00136 | 05-00136-1 |
Andair manufactures Gascolators for both 3/8" and 1/2" lines. Both types have a screw locking ring that prevents the bowl from coming off, and a facility for this to be wire-locked. The bowl is internally sealed with an Viton (R) O-ring. A PTFE coated 70 micron Stainless Steel mesh is used as the filter screen.
This premium gascolator is machined from solid aluminum and anodized. The PTFE coated 70 micron washable screen provides excellent flow characteristics and minimal pressure drop. Mounting is made using the 9/16 The PTFE coating helps prevent water from passing, by maintaining it as a droplet formation. A large filter area is present and wide passages have been incorporated so that the pressure loss through the Gascolators is kept to an absolute minimum. There is an 1/8 NPT hole on the bottom of the bowl so it can be drained and also one on the top of the body. This one can be used as a pressure tapping or a filtered supply to the primer pump. A selection of fittings can also be used with the GAS375 and the GAS500. All the Gascolators include a self bleeding air bleed. Here, on first use, and immediately after the bowl/filter has been removed the air trapped inside will automatically be purged out. |
Two older Andair gascolators on my Diamond DA20s have failed when the bowl cannot be removed from the body for filter inspection and cleaning without destroying the unit. (This can be a hazardous condition.) According to the factory rep. this is because the threaded retaining ring has been tightened to much. (No instructions to the contrary.) I suspect it might also be the effects of corroded threads. Later Andair gascolators have a different surface finish on the threaded parts. Andair offers no cautionary service bulletin, remedial service, or discounted replacements for these failures. Because it is standard installation on my DA20 I cannot replace it with a better one without significant documented effort. Maybe a 1 star rating is generous. Stay away from these if you have a choice.

We have added the tech data sheet to the "Documents" tab of the web page. It includes all available specs and a detailed dimensional drawing.
The valve drain is not included but the screen filter is included.
The unit does not come with a mounting bracket. Andair does offer a firewall mount model number BK375, or p/n 05-02651. We do not stock it, but can order it at any time.
The GAS375 should work fine with just a gravity feed. It's worth noting that the smaller the 'journey' and limiting any 90* bends in the line will help, but with an 85 continental there should be no problem.
No, this comes with male -6 fittings.
