The wing tip for the Hershey bar Cherokee is Met-Co-Aire's flagship product. Since being approved by the FAA in 1963 it has been proven again and again to meet or exceed the claims attached to it. All of the claims come from pilots, NOT from their own testing. They have always felt that the greatest critic is the one who has paid money; not one that has been hired. With the growing interest in aerodynamics the aviation community has emulated their pioneering use of the Hoerner style wing tip. The most notable example is the use of a similar tip that was standard equipment from Piper aircraft on the late model PA-28-180, 200, Seneca and all of the tapered wing aircraft. Met-Co-Aire tips installed on your aircraft will: Their Hoerner-style wing tips are constructed of hand-laid polyester resin fiberglass as are all of our products. They come with a white gel-coat, which serves as the prime coat for painting. Though the finish on their tips often looks like paint they recommend that you paint them. The gel-coat acts as a white bottom coat, which helps minimize bleeding through as in the case of a grey base coat. Model Availability: |
These are almost just right. One tip at the trailing edge was to tight and started to crack. I had to trim the rib a bit to fit it. Otherwise very nice product. Solid and well paclaged for shipping.
Cherokee Straight Wing Tips (Pair)
These are NOT ready for paint as advertised. The edges were curled up and the gel coat was flaking off leaving voids. we had to sand the edges straight and fill the voids. they were sent in a flimsy carboard box with very little packing foam for protection. One had damage on the trailing edge. Other then that, they fit well and will hopefully perform as advertised.
