The t/w tire on the Cub went flat in flight and shimmied on landing and broke the steering arm. I purchased the new steering arm like the original that broke on my Cub. The original steering arm was also a rough casting. You will need to drill the holes for the attachment bolts. The new bushing also had steel bushings in the holes where the chains attach that reduce those hole from elongating. I’m very happy with the replacement.

Part is made from cast aluminum (same as the similar Scott part) the steering arms on this part are slightly thinner than the Scott part but other dimensions are the same. There is a thin reinforcing sleeve (made of steel) pressed into the holes in the steering arms where the steering springs attach.

This is cast aluminum, the casting is rough and the finish is rough. Vise jaw marks in the area where the part was held to turn the 3/4 shank, deep belt sander marks all over the part which reduce the dimensions of the part. I am sending it back for a replacement or refund.

I was not happy with the product. The shaft was machined off-center, the aluminum casting was like Styrofoam, and it broke on the first landing. Find yourself a NOS Scott 1140, or try the $200 one they are selling. Not Aircraft Spruces fault. Comes from Wag Aero.
