P/S 890 Class B is an aircraft integral fuel tank sealant. It has a service temperature range from - 65°F (-54°C) to 250°F (121°C), with intermittent excursions up to 275°F (135°C). This material is designed for fillet sealing of fuel tanks and other aircraft fuselage sealing applications. The cured sealant maintains excellent elastomeric properties after prolonged
exposure to both jet fuel and aviation gas. P/S 890 Class B is a two-part, manganese dioxide cured polysulfide compound. The uncured material is a low sag, thixotropic paste suitable for application by extrusion gun or spatula. It cures at room temperature to form a resilient sealant having excellent adhesion to common aircraft substrates. |
I have used this product for many years. If you buy the tube pull the dasher rod out of the tube and unscrew it from the little mixer inside. Pop the plunger in the rod up with a pick and you can then measure out the amount you need separately from the rod which holds the catalyst and using a screwdriver handle to push the plastic plunger in the tube. Hope this helps Mike
Great Product. Covers well. Easy clean up with MEK.
I tested thinning the proseal with MEK to the consistency of thin soup and it cured indistinguishably from the undiluted proseal. The thinned proseal is much easier to apply in my opinion. Great product.
Gets the job done. Ready to go in 24 hrs.
Refrigerating the compound after mixing will extend the pot life. This stuff is messy but very effective.
Best stuff on the market its never cracked or shrunk on any of my builds and as always aircraft spruce shipped quickly
Bought this sealant to repair a leak in my fuel tank, worked perfectly.
very nice you have all range
Tip: Keep refrigerated after using....2 years and going strong!
WORKS GREAT BUT, EASE OF USE IS LESS THAN OPTIMAL.

Per our tech: This a tricky one. The manufacturer doesn't recommend it, but builders have used it as a sealant for fuel probes and gaskets for years. The manufacturer doesn't have any lab tests to show how well it works or doesn't work on plastic, so they will not recommend it.
Part # 09-38560 has a 2 hour work time, 64 hr tack free time, and 112 hr cure time. Variations in temperature and humidity can affect cure time.
The manufacturer has not tested this material on fiberglass, so they can not guarantee how well it will adhere, but in general, if the surface is contamination free and has a smooth surface, it will adhere. We suggest contacting whoever made the tank, and ask their suggestion for sealing cracks, or pin holes, in the tank.
The manufacturer does not list any tests for oil, but it should work fine for pin holes and sealing around rivets on aluminum tanks.
There are a few solvents you could use. We recommend using one of the RPM Technology products. Please click the link below for the listing:

It is a Class II Type B2 sealant
Over the years it has been used in applications with ethanol, but there are no lab tests or certs to show it will work.
No. This product is not the PPG PR1425, but we do have a 3M AC-251 window and canopy sealant part number 09-04008 that should work for your application.
The manufacturer provided us no data for testing with auto fuel. You will need to run your own tests to determine if it will work for your application.
PPG does not provide the nozzle. We offer nozzle part number 02-00099 that can be used with the PPG SEM kits.
