Progressively details the events leading to the Aeronautical Corporation of America, from the early 1900s, through the Great Depression, the disastrous flood of 1937, World War II and beyond. The book includes biographical information on the founders of Aeronca, and details the people, facilities and manufacturing operations of Aeronca during the Golden Years. It also includes the reasons for the company's name change to Aeronca. Emphasis is given to Aeronca's C-2, C-3, Model K, Model L, 7AC Champ and 11AC Chief. All Aeronca's models are discussed. Several factory photos are included. 152 pgs, softbound, 240+ photos, 18 pages of internationally acclaimed 3-view scale drawings. |
Well written and provides some great history on the company. My only gripe was that it seemed like there was so much more detail about the companys first 3-5 years, and then everything after that was quite slim. That meant not that much attention was given to the Aeronca 7-Series or 11-Series. I also own Luscombes Golden Age, and although this Aeronca book is much better written than that book, this one provides a lot less information.
