Hamfist checks in at his new assignment at Kadena, and discovers that all is not rosy in the peacetime Air Force. He finds that not all adversaries are on the enemy side. He finds that keeping a fighter assignment is as difficult as getting one. And he finds that the “peacetime” Air Force includes combat.
Hamfist also discovers another side of the Air Force. He becomes a Staff Officer, still flying, an airplane as well as a desk. He settles into a routine as he adjusts to life as a husband and father. But the post-Vietnam world is not a peaceful place, and Hamfist is in the throes of combat once again. And this time, Hamfist, and only Hamfist, can prevent the capture of his old friend from DaNang. And enemy forces are closing, fast. |
