This straight forward tool will let you remove the tach seal in minutes time and time again. The seal removal tool is so easy to use, it’s as easy as counting to five! One: remove the vacuum pump to give the tool plenty of room to work. Two: thread the alignment sleeve onto the housing as well as the puller. A 3/4” wrench is helpful here. Three: adjust the alignment sleeve so it can rotate freely. Four: install the slide hammer and bolt. Five: Firmly impact the bolt head with the slide to bring the seal out. |
Did not work as advertised. Feel like sending it back and asking for a refund. Ended up having to pull the accessory case.
ATS Tachometer Drive Seal Remover
Works as advertised. Definitely the best way to remove the seal with the engine still in the mounts. Watch the video first. Be aware that its a little more difficult to do than shown in the video. Its not going to pop out on the first hit with the slide hammer like it shows in the video, but it will come out.
Really a big time saver with no ill side effects. Easy to use, very well built and well thought-out design. Be sure to watch the youtube video before your first try. https://youtu.be/3ir1iWEsapM

Part # 12-04820 is not designed to accommodate the tach drive seal on the Continental IO-360. That tach drive is configured differently.
The tool is for removing tach drive seals only on Lycoming O-235 through O, IO and TIO-540 series engines. Most all of the Continental engines have removable housing and the seals can be driven out and replaced.
