I installed on a 1954 PA-20 Pacer with an O-320. The starter has three auxiliary mounting lugs, one of which is in the way of the rear port side mounting bolt for the starter. Also had to modify the oil cooler mounting bracket as it was an interference fit with the battery connection and the auxiliary unused mounting lug. Also had to install a 5 longer battery cable as the starter battery connection was further forward than the original. Would have been a lot easier to have stuck with a LaMarr starter which is what it originally had.

Solid starter. Great upgrade/replacement to my original starter on my 1963 PA-28-180. Be sure to get the correct tooth count according to your flywheel ring gear, either 122 or 149.

I’ve had these starters in service for 10 or more years. They work great. They used to be switchable between 12/24 volt. Not anymore. Make sure to order the correct one.
Sky-Tec Starter 12V 122-Nl
Well after 6 months of getting a rebuilt starter that didnt work and getting warrantee for it I placed and order for the Sky-Tec starter 12v 122-NL. The starter works great so far with mutable starts and shut downs. So I had to add a length of starter wire from my stock it was 5.5 inches from eye to eye and covered the bolt and acorn nut with heat shrink. I had to move the oil cooler out of the way to get a nut on the back bolt, not a big thing just an extra hour to the job. There is lots of clearance between the starter and oil cooler on My 1972 PA- 28 140 . I dry ran the starter 8 times to make sure it worked. I did see the bendix teeth had test mark which I was happy to see that it was tested under load. Its nice to know there is a 2 year warrantee on this starter and not 6 months on a rebuild. The front were the bendix in housed is polished and looks great. The starter is good quality manufacturing. My recommendation is to spend the extra money and dont get a rebuilt starter that takes 2.5 months to get and has a bad bendix right out of the box. Im glad this starter problem happened at home because it would have cost me $1000.00 in out of town costs.

Sky-Tec Starter 12V 122-Nl
This starter worked great turning over an IO-720 engine. The older starter always had to be rocked to get it turning. Not this one. Good buy!

That is correct. The core charge is refunded when the old starter is returned.
Voltage must be a minimum of 11 volts for the starter to function. In-rush current would be approximately 190 amps and continuous current approximately 90 amps.
This does require an external solenoid.
