My aircraft had a factory installation. Thought this part might fit. It did not. Appears to be a good quality part.

This is the second bracket thats broke. There up to revision J but they are still breaking. The latest was on a 182 causing some minor collateral damage. I can see the possibility of something more serious. Like over the mountains at night. There really needs to be a SB. The weld should be gusseted all the way around. But then the bolt would interfere. The fix is to adapt your OE bracket. The OE lasted 42 years with no problems.

To pay so much for the alternator conversion kit with an obvious problem with the mounting bracket is mind boggling. We are going to try and mod it locally so we can get more than 300 hours out of it before failure.

We have 7 aircraft equipped with Planepower alternators and they work fine, however, their supporting brackets arent worth a dime (Id like to say something else, but itd be very inappropriate). I started saving the broken ones after a while, and I now have a box full of them.

Flying a twin Cessna 310. So far I am up to 4 brackets breaking. Lasting less that 40 hours each. POS and should be made to correct their problem with the bracket. Service difficulty report on the way.
