Every aircraft engine needs a push to get it started. The modern Continental engines utilizes a starter adapter to accomplish this. The starter motor bolts to the adapter and connects to an input shaft. This shaft has a worm gear attached that turns a larger brass gear. The brass gear has a large spring attached that compresses on the aircraft starter drive shaft turning it to start the aircraft engine. When the engine starts, the starter is released and the spring opens allowing the shaft to turn freely within the spring. We have the capability to overhaul nearly every Continental starter adapter with a quick turn time and torque test to verify operation before leaving the shop. Starter adapter overhaul includes all recommended inspections, Alodine housings and external hardware is gold cadmium plated. Assembly includes new seals, gaskets and bearings. Note: Warranty voided if installed with a lightweight starter. |
