Overview

PreKote© a simple procedure that replaces the use of traditional chromate conversion coatings and the need for acide etches, solvent washes and other toxic processes. Small aircraft shops have also used PreKote© to successfully replace the use of chromate conversion coating pens for smaller repair areas. By eliminating the need for these additional processes, paint preparation time and cost can be reduced by up to 40%.

Approved for use by the Boeing Commercial Aerospace Group, Department of Defense and currently flying over 1,500 United States Air Force aircraft, PreKote© has proven consistent results with a variety of paints and primers. PreKote© can be used on a wide range of surfaces including aluminum, steel, magnesium, titanium, CRES, galvanized, composite and plastic surfaces.

Environmental, Health & Safety Reason for Using PreKote
The use of PreKote© does not trigger categorical industrial user status under the Environmental Protection Agency's metal Finishing effluent guidelines. This makes PreKote© easy to dispose.

PreKote© use also eliminates the need for forced air containment suits which are required by OSHA when using traditional chromate conversion coatings. Simply rain gear and goggles/face shield are all that is required.

Reviews

Bought this to paint the RV-10. Seems to work great with 3M pads. 1 gallon should do the entire airplane. Too bad this stuff is outrageously priced by ACS. Then you get gouged on the shipping too! Best to buy direct from manufacture.

Used this on some ruddervators for a super vee that is being put back together. Looks like good adhesion to the old magnesium. Will see how they hold up.

Great Producct ! I couldnt believe how much oxidation came off the parts. I sprayed it on then scrubbed with maroon scotchbrite in two directions and rinsed it off. Very ECO friendly and safe to use. Forget the alodine etc. AKZO works amazingly well with this simple prep.

At a point in construction where gear legs needed to be primed/painted. Considered the old Alumiprep/Alodine, even went so far as to purchase alumiprep. But the idea of using Chromate did not appeal to me. Researched this and felt that this would be appropriate. The preparation was fairly easy. Had the legs painted at a local body shop and they came out very nicely. Will need to see how they last in the long run, but now very satisfied.

Works great, so far seemed to have worked. Used this on bare aluminum in my Cessna and washed off with water then primed and painted. Only problem is I bought too much for what I needed to do. Also, the expiry date seems off since my container was leaking a little through cap because it did not have a breakable seal under cap, allowing air to enter? Even pancake syrup has a breakable seal! Hence how long rrally is the expiry date if product is not sealed when it arrives? Five star if somebody can explain the expiry/non sealed container for me.
