We purchased a BC-5000 from Spruce and were under impression it would at least be under factory calibration. And this was at same cost as from other Concorde suppliers.

Yes. Last page of the hand book that comes with every unit has the calibration certificate. The units are calibrated from factory then need to be re calibrated ever year after first use.
