Want to install Stratus ES/ESG, but don’t see your airplane on our STC list? Not to worry! Even while Appareo is building their STC AML, you’ll have no trouble getting Stratus ES/ESG installed in your Part 23 aircraft, based on their lead STC.

The FAA created a policy to make it simple to use the lead STC to install ADS-B Out equipment on additional Part 23 air frames. (Part 23 includes most general aviation aircraft). This policy was designed to keep ADS-B installs moving smoothly and make things easier for your installer.

Q: Can the certified Stratus EGS connect to an iPad for display of ADS-B IN data? What is the difference between the ESG and the ESGi (other than the i is experimental)?

THE ESGi is a package of the ESG and the Stratus 2i for ADS-B IN. The Stratus 2i is required for ADS-B In to work.

Q: The overview states a gps antenna is included but the accessories list antennas 11-15996 and 11-14672 as options. Are they needed?

The Stratus ESG comes with an internal GPS antenna, part number 11-15996 is a optional external GPS antenna. Part number 11-14672 is for the Stratus 2i portable and is also a optional external antenna.

Q: If I had a Stratus 3 and Stratus ESG, would that give me Mode C traffic in Canada and benefit from full ADS-B compliance when flying in the US?

The stratus esg is mode s transponder. It does not operate in the same manner as a mode c transponder. You will need to contact your local aviation authority to see if you can operate with a mode s transponder in canada.

Q: Does the Appareo Stratus ESG transponder require an external WAAS GPS antenna?

Yes, it requires an external WAAS GPS that is included with the package.

Q: Will the Appareo ESG work with the AK850 blind encoder?

Yes, it will.

Q: Is the Appareo Stratus ESG transponder approved for the Cessna 170B?

Yes. The Cessna 170B is on the AML list.

Q: Will you ship the Stratus ESG to my home address? I ordered from another website that said they would only ship to an approved Appero Dealer. I am using an avionics shop that is not a dealer.

We can only ship this product to an installer that is on the Appareo install shop list. We cannot ship this direct to customer or direct to another install shop.

Q: what is the warranty period on the Stratus ESG, and where to send product for repair?

For Stratus ESG installed and registered by an authorized Appareo installer. The warranty is 5 years or 2,000 flight hours whichever comes first. This can be sent to the Appareo for repair.

Q: I currently have a Stratus ESG. Will the ESG Interface with the Dynon Skyview?

Per the Stratus install Manual Rev 2.2 the Dynon Skyview is not compatible.

Q: If the Stratus ESG comes with an internal gps antenna, why do we need an external WAAS gps antenna?

The internal portion is simply a receiver. The external antenna provides the information.
