Overview

What is the FPS-Plus Reflex?

The FPS-Plus Reflex has all of the same features as our standard FPS-Plus.The only difference is the way it functions on aircraft that utilize a Reflexed Flap Position.

FLAP REFLEX POSITION DEFINITION:
This is a flap position (typically up to a minus ten degrees) that is maintained in cruise flight. The zero degree position is usually designated for aircraft take-off and climb.

FPS-Plus Reflex Operation

Again, all features of this system are exactly the same as our FPS-Plus. The only exception is, when you press the Flap Up Button for more than a second, it returns the flaps to the zero degree position, not "full up". This is an advantage when initiating a "go-around" and "touch and goes". It is also an advantage when your flaps are in any down position, and you want to return the flaps to the "take-off" position. Other manufacturers flap positioning systems return the flaps to the cruise position, which is undesirable for aircraft such as the RV-10.

NOTE:
You can program as many flap stop positions and put them where you desire. The first position down from the "full up" position, does not have to be located at zero degree point as in our example. It can be any position. In any case, the model FPS-Plus Reflex will return the flaps to the first position down from the "full up" position when the flap up button is pressed for more than one second.

Touch-N-Go Operation
As you come in for a landing with full flaps, you land and then prepare for take-off again while rolling. You hold in the "Flap Up Button" in for longer than 1 second. This commands the flap positioning system to start moving to the take-off or climb flap position (zero degrees for the RV-10). While the flaps are retracting, go to full throttle, punch in the carb. heat, and take-off. After climb, level off. Momentarily press the "Flap Up Button" again. The flaps will go to the full up position (the flap reflex position for cruise flight).

Pre-Flight and Ground operations
Pilots that extend the flaps for pre-flight inspection or for ease of loading can return the flaps to the zero degree position automatically with one touch of the flap switch. It's no longer necessary to monitor the flap position as they are retracting or to retract them in increments. This makes flap retraction simple and easy, as well as providing the pilot with additional assurance that the flaps won't "accidentally" be in the reflexed position for take off, a function not offered by other flap control systems.
