H45 Divinycell 1/8 X 32 X 48

August 13, 2024

Diviny cell foam is a great rigid core material, I just needed a small piece of 1/4, but only large sizes with expensive shipping were available in 1/4. So I bought an available small piece of 3/4 and cut thinner on a bandsaw. Also easily cuts with a sharp knife.

H45 Pvc Foam 3/4X 16X24

March 3, 2023

So far I have only worked with one sheet to form it for the body of a race car. The divinycell is a little tricky in thermoforming but not bad once you get a feel for it. It takes a little time to get enough heat into the material but you can burn the surface it you hold the heat gun on it too long. You can heat the material again if you need to adjust your bend. Highly recommend that you use a slurry of resin and micro balloons when applying the first layer of fabric as the part will be stronger and lighter.

H45 Pvc Foam 3/4X 16X24

March 29, 2022

The foam was exactly what I ordered, PVC foam with is fuel resistant and the material specified for building the strakes/fuel tanks for the Cozy MK IV. The foam was packed extremely well with wood to prevent damage. Aircraft Spruce always does a good job packing items to prevent damage in shipment.

Q: Is this foam good for building bulk heads and instrument panels on a long ez? The plans I have call for R-45 foam. Is this the same stuff?

H45 foam core can be used in place of R45 foam, but any changes of the plans should be reviewed with other builders.

Q: Is this Divinycell Foam PVC sandable?

Yes, Divinycell can be cut and sanded to shape.

Q: Can this foam be cut with a hot wire?

No, Divinycell is not to be cut with a hot wire. The only foam that we offer that can be cut with a hot wire is our styrofoam, small cell (example part # 01-09400) and large cell (example part # 01-37600).

Q: Can the Divinycell foam PVC be purchased in longer lengths above 48"?

The sizes we offer are stock sizes with max length of 48". We may be able to special order a custom size, but the minimum order may be 20 pieces or more. We would just need the exact material and size you need and we can submit a request for a quote. Please contact our sales department if you would like to look into a special order for custom sizes.

Q: Can Divinycell be vacuum bagged, or will the heat of the epoxy cure cause it to melt or deform?

Divinycell foam can be vacuum bagged. Polyester, vinyl-ester and epoxies can be used on this foam without any damage to the foam.

Q: Can divinycell foam be covered with prepreg carbon fiber, vacuum bagged and put in oven at 350 degrees?

The heat distortion temp is 250 degrees. 350 degrees is much higher and would most likely damage the foam.

Q: Can this Divinycell foam PVC be cut using a CNC machine?

Yes. It can be cut using a CNC.

Q: I purchased a sheet of H45 Divinycell. I wish to glue it together, what epoxy, adhesive do i use. Thank you

There is not a specific epoxy adhesive to be used on this material. All the epoxy adhesives we offer would work fine. You may want to consult with others with the same project to see what others have used with success. T-88, G-Flex, Aeropoxy adhesives, are just a few we offer.

Q: Can the H45 foam in 1/8 and 1/4 thickness be rolled for shipping?

No, these are rigid and will break if we try to roll them.

Q: Is Divinycell foam compatible with avgas and/or motor gas?

This has passed the test of being submerged in High Octane Petroleum Spirit for 14 days.
