Excited to report back that after leaving my tube of Loctite clear silicone on my garage shelf for 4 months with the Silicone Saver in place, I finally got to see if this thing does what it says. It works!! I was able to pull the rod from the cap and silicone flowed with no dried out / cured tube issue like I would have happen in the past. Once I was done using the silicone I simply cleaned a tiny thin layer of dried silicone from off the rod and reinserted it for use again in the future. Thanks for carrying this super useful gadget, Aircraft Spruce!
The Silicone Saver
Bought me some of these silicone tube cap systems because I hate using a tube for a job, and when needing to use the tube again 2 weeks later I can’t squeeze anything out because it started to cure at tube outlet already. I had to use clear silicone on a metal / glass seam 3 days in a row. Each day the little black rod pulled out with a tug and the short nozzle on the red cap is very handy so I didn’t have to use my finger to smooth out an overly thick bead like I’ve done in the past. Really liking this so far as an easy and practical application. Can’t give 5 stars until I let one of my silicone tubes sit for a few weeks to see if there is indeed no curing inside the actual tube like I normally get.
