Why didnt I get this battery pack years ago? I use my hand held as a backup in my flight bag. Knowing that if the radio is needed, I have fully charged batteries is very reassuring. If the batteries are low or dead, a set of AA batteries I carry as spares in the bag makes the radio fully reliable at all times. Game changer indeed!

I got this battery case for an old Icon IC-T81A (ham radio handheld) that was given to me. The battery case it came with had been corroded by leaky batteries, and this make a great replacement. The old one only held 3 AA batteries, and this one holds 6, so the radio can operate with more power. It fits on the radio just as well as the original, and I was even able to transfer the belt clip from the original battery case to this one. A perfect item to make an old radio work again!

Well made for the Icon IC-A23 and A5. Batteries fit well, and case snaps into radio tightly. Works great.
I ended up returning this item without ever getting it to work. While it fit my ICOM IC-A23 radio, it appeared to be very poorly made. The contacts were not well seated and, in fact, were held in place with small pieces of tape. When loaded with fresh batteries, it would not produce voltage on the output contacts. Using a multi-meter, I traced the voltage thru the stack of 6 AA batteries, but the voltage did not make it to the output contacts. That issue could probably have been repaired, but I decided the construction was not something I would rely on for a back-up radio in my aircraft. AS&S did accept the return without issue.
