Overview

Using the latest in ANR circuitry to target and reduce wind noise in jet cockpits, the Airman 850 provides up to 12 decibels (dB) of noise attenuation between 100 and 2000 Hz. At just four ounces, the headset is the lightest ANR product in the marketplace, and ear cups and cushions have been enlarged from previous models to enhance pilot comfort. Additional features include a set and forget volume control feature, noise-canceling electret microphone and fully flexible boom. The Airman 850 dramatically improves the clarity of communication and does not require batteries or panel power—active noise reduction is powered by microphone bias. Telex Airman 750 and 850 headsets are used in more than 70 percent of commercial airframes. The Airman 850 is available for Boeing, Airbus and other airframes and does not require specialized intercom adapters.

Replaced an old ANR 850. Best headset Ive ever had. You can wear it all day and still comfortable. Much better than the Bose and never needs batteries

Telex Airman ANR 850 Headset Dual GA Plugs

When COVID hit, I decided to carry my own headset so I wasnt chewing on a community microphone in the 777. I carried around my A20 for a while but got tired of trucking around a headset that takes up half my flight bag for which I have to wear one ear cup removed anyway. (Interphone isnt approved during critical phases of flight). I needed something that would fold flat, was preferably TSOd and had some active noise cancelling. This headset fit the bill. Likes: ●It has a LOW/HIGH switch ●It fits compact in my bag ●It is easy to take on and off quickly ●It has enough noise cancellation to make a difference Dislikes: ●(Minor) The ear cups dont have end stops on the rotation so the wires unwind. ●You have to bend the metal extensions in just slightly to get the ear cups to seal vertically on your ears (maybe just mine) but once you do, it gets much more quiet.

As a 737NG-600,700,800 and Max series Captain, I love the comfort level of this headset. No batteries to buy and replace, easy to slip off and on when dealing with flight attendants, and easy on my head while wearing glasses.

Ive been using the Telex 850 for about 15 years on the Boeing 757/767/777. It provides much better noise attenuation than the new David Clark Pro X, that cost $300 more. Im able to hear others speak in the cockpit clearly, while cancelling out the background noise. Its comfortable wearing for long periods, but my ears start hurting occasionally on long haul flights (15-16 hours). Much better (quieter) than the D/C Pro X for much less.

Using these in a jet cockpit. Doesn’t really fit well, feels like it will fall off my head at times. Somewhat flimsy construction. ANR is ok but I know there are better products out there. Not the best purchase for the dollar.

Q: Is this Telex Airman ANR 850 headset compatible for use with Boeing 777?

This headset has standard dual plugs on the end of the cord. One is for microphone and the other is for the headphone. Most Boeing jets are equipped with standard dual plug jacks, however some are modified for different plug types so you must confirm your own application as we cannot say for sure that it will work in all Boeing 777.

Q: Are the Airman 850 with bluetooth? and they are with dual plug?

No, these headsets do not have Bluetooth. Yes, they are Dual GA Plug headsets.

Q: Does the carrying case come with the purchase of the headset, or is it a separate item as it is listed in the accessory tab?

The carrying case is included with the purchase of the Telex Airman 850 headset.
