shinny news and nicely fits... not too loose, not too tight

Its astonishing how such a small, inexpensive part as the Maule tail wheel locking spring--a coil about an inch long and less than 1/4 inch in diameter--can affect the performance of an airplane! Aircraft Spruce sent it by first class mail (as I requested) and it arrived in a couple of days. Fits perfectly and easy to install.

I ordered the Maule TW-15A steering arm subassembly. When it arrived, the locking ring had not been machined completely. The lock pin holes were absent and the through hole was undersize. Aircraft spruce was very prompt about helping me diagnose the problem. They sent a replacement immediately and provided a will call tag to return the nonconforming part. I would rate their customer service as top notch.

Exact fit, went on with no issues. Aircraft Spruce shipped quickly, very adequate package, good price.

I purchased the hub cap, PN TW-32, Item No. 18 and the screws for the hub cap, PN TW-A18, Item No. 17. The hub cap seems to be of high quality, however, I was slightly annoyed to see that it came with three of those No. 17 screws in the package, so I didnt need to buy them in addition.

This is a weak point of the Maul tailwheel and this is my second one in 300 hours, so at 30 bucks a pop for a bucks worth of steel is kinda screwed, but it is the right part and does the job.

Q: I need items 15&26 on the picture for my Pitts S2B 1986. Which one is correct now as it is solid wheel?

#15 would be TW-59A and #26 would be TW-58A-1 for a Pneumatic wheel or TW-21-1 for solid rubber.
