Hyper bright led beacon ! I never see that before.
Whelen OR36R1N Red LED Beacon 14VDC 2.6 Upper
I purchased two of these to replace Whelen 70509 flashers on my Cessna 140. I have a 14V system and a generator and needed to reduce the amp load to mitigate battery drainage during low RPM operations. The average amp draw on the LEDs is over 60% less than the halogen lights! The OR36RIN is all aluminum base and housing. The assembly is well sealed and much better construction than the 70509s. Light is very bright! I talked to the Whelen factory and they advised me to drill a 1/8 hole in the center of the cover of the light that was to be mounted on the bottom of the fuselage (take the cover off before you do this). I also added a rubberized cork seal between the base of the unit and the fuselage. Price is high, but highly recommended!

Replaced Whelen Halogen unit. MUCH brighter and a lot less draw! Bolted right into place.
Whelen OR36R1N Red LED Beacon 14VDC 2.6 Upper
Looks good works great. Very bright for daytime visibility for other aircraft and to avoid birds. I have noticed birds getting out of my way more after installing this beacon. If flying at night a piece of aluminum tape might be needed on the front side as it really lights up the baggage area in my C150. In my experience Whelen products do not produce radio noise when properly installed and there is no radio noise from this beacon either.

Whelen OR36R1N Red LED Beacon 14VDC 2.6 Upper
This is a great beacon! It is brighter, lighter and more compact (lower profile) than the OEM beacon it replaced. Power requirements are also less @ 2.8A vs 15a for the old one. Easy to install using the existing circuitry. Highly recommended

It is 100 candle power.
The larger size is 3.75" per the technical drawings. We have updated the web page to reflect the correct size.
They are self contained. As for the replacement we would need to know what is currently installed on the aircraft. SA800EA is an STC number that covers several lights.
The Whelen Orion 360 series is FAA TSO approved for certified aircraft.
They all flash at the same time.
If the aircraft is 1967 through 1977 and has factory fin cap, then yes it will work. 1978 is the transition year from 12 to 28 volt, so you will need to verify voltage.
The TSO should make it just a logbook entry/minor alteration.
The flash rate of the 01-0772010-50 will be 45 +/- 4 flashes per minute. In regards to synchronization the LED beacon will flash at its own rate and will go in and out of phase with the remainder of the strobes as there is no means of syncing this product.
Per Whelen: You would need to measure the diameter of the current beacon. It is likely either 3.75 or 2.6".
